Molina fastest in wet first free practice at Valencia

Miguel Molina clocked the fastest laptime in the wet Free Practice session at Valencia. The Spaniard was just five hundredths quicker than fellow Audi driver Timo Scheider, while Augusto Farfus spoiled an Audi 1-2-3 by clocking the third quickest laptime after leading most of the second part of the session.

The leading trio was a close pack which was one second quicker than the rest of the field, much affected that the final minutes featured a track with a more or less dry line.

Ekström was fourth ahead of the first Mercedes driver, Ralf Schumacher, and Filipe Albuquerque, who also briefly led the session.

Edoardo Mortara confirmed Audi’s strong form by placing himself in seventh ahead of Bruno Spengler, who had emerged as the quickest in this morning’s session. Dirk Werner completed the top ten some 1.7s behind the leader.

Championship leader Gary Paffett didn’t go beyond 17th, while Jamie Green was in 20th position at the end of the session.

There were no major incidents in the session, with only a few small mistakes by different drivers. Next up for the DTM is the second Free Practice session, scheduled for tomorrow at 9.00 CET.
