Paffett relaxed and Spengler happy ahead of title decider
Main title candidates Gary Paffett and Bruno Spengler qualified second and third respectively ahead of the season finale at Hockenheim tomorrow. Despite starting right next to each other and having a mere three points separating them, both are playing it cool ahead of the race.
“Pole position was my goal, but still, I’m on the front row of the grid and so feel very relaxed about the last race of the season tomorrow,” said Paffett.
“I am very happy with my third place. We had a few minor problems in practice this morning, but quickly managed to get on top of them,” said Spengler.
While BMW has been in the very top for the past races, a performance confirmed in qualifying today with Augusto Farfus Jr. once again on pole, Mercedes has struggled. But Paffett says that there has been a lot of hard work ahead of Hockenheim that has payed off.
“All the hard work on the car has paid off. My THOMAS SABO Mercedes AMG C-Coupé was brilliant in all the sessions and I’ve really enjoyed racing at this track. Now I’m looking forward to an exciting and fair season finale. I’ve already won four races at Hockenheim and secured seven podium finishes, so I’m extremely optimistic about this last race of the season,” said Paffett.
Spengler was equally pleased with the work of BMW Team Schnitzer ahead of the very last race of 2012.
“BMW Team Schnitzer did a great job. We can now look forward to a real showdown in the final race. It cannot get any better for the fans,” said Spengler.
