Wittmann ahead of Molina in Hockenheim test day two
BMW driver Marco Wittmann continued on top as the second test day of four was completed at Hockenheim with changeable weather conditions. The German lapped the circuit in 1:33.227, a mere 0.015 seconds faster than Audi’s Miguel Molina in second.
“This has been a very successful and busy first day of testing for me here at Hockenheim. Despite the difficult weather conditions with constant changes between a wet and drying track I completed 80 laps and finished the entire test plan. The lap times were pleasing as well. Hopefully, tomorrow things will continue in the same positive way as this is the last test before the season starts and we’ve got to leave here with a car that’s practically ready to race,” said Molina.
Martin Tomczyk made it two BMWs in the top three, 0.297 seconds from Wittmann’s best time. Edoardo Mortara claimed fourth fastest time ahead of Adrien Tambay and Dirk Werner.
Timo Scheider was the last driver within one second from the top time in seventh position, with Daniel Juncadella, Gary Paffett and Roberto Merhi rounding off the top ten.
