RMG BMW drivers divided after qualifying
RMG BMW drivers, Andy Priaulx and Martin Tomczyk have differing views on their performances in qualfying at the Norisring.
Priaulx believes he is well placed for the rest of the season, after qualifying sixth at the Norisring, whilst Tomczyk was at a loss to explain his lack of pace.
The grid position is Priaulx’s equal best DTM career grid slot, and the Briton believes it is a result of the team adapting the car more to his liking after the Lausitzring, where he finished last of all 22 runners.
“We have changed a lot since the last race,” said Priaulx. “BMW Motorsport and the RMG team have thought about my situation very hard and made the car much more suited to me.”
“This has really given me a lot of confidence for the rest of the season [as] I feel very comfortable in the car and [I] understand where the time has come from.”
Meanwhile, Tomczyk’s 2013 nightmare continued as he failed to make it out of the first qualifying session, and will line up 17th.
“The whole season has just been very weird for me,” said Tomczyk. “To be honest, I don’t know what went wrong. I have started from towards the back of the grid quite often this year and do not want to make a habit of it.”
