Mike Rockenfeller still not considering title
Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller is still not considering the DTM drivers’ championship, despite taking a points and qualifying advantage into tomorrow’s race at Oschersleben.
To claim the title, Rockenfeller needs to win, with Christian Vietoris, Robert Wickens, Gary Paffett, Bruno Spengler and Augusto Farfus all finishing out of the points.
Vietoris, Wickens and Paffett all qualified behind Rockenfeller who qualified fourth.
However, Spengler claimed his second consecutive Oschersleben pole, whilst Farfus finished third.
Despite his 35-point advantage, Rockenfeller insists he is still not thinking of the championship going into tomorrow’s race.
“I didn’t think about winning the title at all when I started into this race weekend,” Rockenfeller told TouringCarTimes. “Of course I’m happy about the 35 points lead I have, but at the same time I know that it doesn’t mean anything at all and can change within seconds on Sunday.
“I’m a better race driver than a calculator so I concentrate on driving.”
