Marco Wittmann ‘proud’ of Hungaroring win

BMW’s Marco Wittmann is proud of his second DTM victory, which he secured at the Hungaroring.

Wittmann, who won the 2014 DTM season opener at Hockenheim, won the second round of his DTM career at the Hungaroring with a lights-to-flag victory.

As a result of his latest win, Wittmann regained the lead of the 2014 DTM championship and now has a 19  point lead over the 2013 DTM title winner, Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller, who has 31 points to Wittmann’s 50.

I am proud to have followed pole position with a win on the return of the DTM to the Hungaroring,” said Wittmann. “That is a fantastic feeling.”

Wittmann also praised his RMG BMW team to recover from their poor 2013 season, which saw them 10th from 11 teams.

Its then 2013 drivers, Martin Tomczyk and Andy Priaulx, finished 19th and 20th.

The guys at the RMG squad did a fantastic job. After that, I just had to remain focussed and avoid making any mistakes.
