Pascal Wehrlein accuses Mattias Ekström of blocking

Pascal Wehrlein has hit out at double DTM champion Mattias Ekström after the Mercedes driver felt Ekström held him up on his hot-lap. 

While Wehrlein qualified fourth at the Norisring, he felt he was capable of better, and blamed Ekström, who qualified seventh, for blocking him on his fastest lap.

“I think that I was actually capable of even more, but on my fast lap, I came up behind Mattias Ekström,” said Wehrlein after qualifying.  “Unfortunately, he didn’t let me make a clean pass, which ruined my lap.”

However, Wehrlein added he was overall pleased with his grid position.

“All the same, row two is a good outcome and a great launch pad for tomorrow and fourth on the grid is an excellent result.”
