Heavy fog alters workplan in Lausitzring
No action has taken place so far this morning at the Lausitzring (Germany), host to this weekend’s eighth round of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. The reason is the heavy fog present at the circuit, which hasn’t lifted in all morning, making it impossible for the rescue helicopter to take off in case of emergency.
The original starting time for the first free practice session was postponed several times until, at 12:35 CEST, when the second free practice should have been running, the organisers decided to alter the programme, switching to just one practice session, and the qualifying to be run as normal.
The latest information is that the single, 15-minute, free practice session should be starting at 16:00 CEST, with qualy running at 16:45 as scheduled.
With the VLN race at Nurburgring cancelled due to the fog, there is still the possibility that the Lausitzring will see no on-track action today.
