DTM tests at Lausitzring postponed

The tests initially scheduled to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Lausitzring by the teams and drivers of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters have been postponed, in light of the many issues the manufacturers are having with the tyres.

The DTM went back to a single tyre compound for the 2015 season, with last year’s prime tyre being chosen for the job. Since the beginning of the season, both Mercedes and, in a greater measure, BMW have struggled to get the best out of the tyres, having been blasted by Audi in the races.

The teams got together with the DMSB (Germany’s national sporting authority) and ITR e.V., the series’ promoter, and concluded that testing at this point in time isn’t useful, due to the tyres being substantially different to what was initially announced by Hankook, the series’ tyre partner.

ITR has asked Hankook to provide a further, more detailed, analysis of the tyres, as well as a number of clarifications about the standard compound. Once the teams have this further information, testing sessions will be relevant.
