Miguel Molina fastest in warm up at Oschersleben
Audi Sport’ Miguel Molina set the fastest time in the morning warm up session at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, host of the seventh round of the 2015 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season. The Spaniard made the most of the changing track conditions to prevail over his competitors.
The track was damp after rain during the night, so the DTM field had to take to the track with wet tyres. The positions changed continuously during the short 15-minute session, as the rain had stop and the track was constantly improving. Towards the end of the session some drivers mounted slick tyres.
Molina set a best time of 1:31.924, 0.185 seconds faster than team-mate Edoardo Mortara. Next was the Mercedes contingent formed by Paul di Resta, Pascal Wehrlein, Gary Paffett and Robert Wickens.
Martin Tomczyk in seventh was the fastest man for BMW Motorsport, just ahead of Audi’s Adrien Tambay and Mercedes’ Christian Vietoris. Augusto Farfus completed the top ten.
Towards the end of the session, Audi Team Phoenix driver Timo Scheider spun whilst on slicks. The changing conditions didn’t allow for reading anything into the results. No more rain is forecasted today, so the qualifying session and race are expected to be dry.
Qualifying for Race 2 is scheduled for 11:35 CEST (GMT + 2).
