Pascal Wehrlein fined after race celebrations in Hockenheim

Pascal Wehrlein, who achieved his first Drivers’ title in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, received two financial fines for his post race celebrations.

The HWA AG driver did some “donoughts” for the fans at the Mercedes grandstand during the in lap, getting out of his Mercedes C63 DTM to salute the spectators. The stewards fined Wehrlein 3,000 euros for opening his belt during this return to the pits.

Once back in the parc fermé, the now youngest ever DTM champion went to celebrate with his mechanics before proceeding to the weighting area. This breach cost the German a further 2,500-euro fine.

None of these fines has any influence on the final race results nor the championship.
