Audi Sport gains weight for Race 1 in Hockenheim

The first calculation performance weight calculation of the 2016 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season has been made, with the Audi RS 5 DTM being the fastest car in the field, thus gaining 5kg for the first race.

Poleman Nico Müller also set the best ideal lap for Audi Sport, with a calculated time of 1:33.772. Gary Paffett set the reference for Mercedes AMG, with an ideal lap of 1:33.995. For BMW Motorsport, it was Tom Blomqvist who clocked the best ideal lap, with a time of 1:34.102.

Mercedes AMG is 0.223 seconds behind Audi Sport, with BMW Motorsport registering a difference of 0.330 seconds. As both these differences are over 0.2% of Audi’s best ideal lap, the Ingolstadt manufacturer gains 5kg, to be added to their base weight, with all RS 5 DTMs having  a new weight of 1,125kg.

Both Mercedes and BMW lose 5kg each to be deducted from their base weight, with the Stuttgart cars now on 1,115kg, whilst the Munich outfit on 1,107kg.

Race 1 starts at 16:00 CEST.
