Mattias Ekström wins WRX round in Hockenheim
Audi Sport driver Mattias Ekström reeled the crowds today in Hockenheim as he became the overall winner of the second round of the World Rallycross Championship, held in Hockenheim as a double header with the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season opener.
Ekström, at the wheel of his Audi S1 EKS RX Quattro, overcame all the qualifying and semi final rounds to reach the final.
The Swede was on pole for the final round, but team-mate Toomas Heikkinen got ahead at the first corner. Ekström managed to go through on the third lap, taking the lead until the chequered flag.
Next for Mattias Ekström is getting back into his Audi RS 5 DTM for the qualifying session for race 2 at 12:30 CEST.
