Mercedes and BMW gain weight for Race 2

The performance weights have been calculated after the qualifying session for Race 2, resulting in added kilos for the Mercedes AMG C63 DTM and the BMW M4 DTM.

The Stuttgart cars were the fastest during the second qualifying session, with Gary Paffett again establishing the best ideal lap for the three-point star manufacturer, with a time of 1:34.029.

BMW Motorsport’s best ideal lap was established by Augusto Farfus, with a time of 1:34.085, whilst Edoardo Mortara did likewise for Audi Sport, with a best ideal register of 1:34.416.

With the 0.1% of Mercedes’ ideal lap being 0.094 seconds, and BMW being only 0.056 seconds away, both manufacturers gain the same weight. As Audi is beyond the 0.2% of the best ideal lap, Mercedes and BMW gain five kilos each, whilst Audi sheds five kilos.

For race two, the new weights will be as follows:

– Mercedes C63 DTM: 1,120 kilos.

– BMW M4 DTM: 1,112.5 kilos.

– Audi RS 5 DTM: 1,120 kilos.

Race 2 starts at 14:30 CEST.
