BMW fattens up for Race 1 in Spielberg

The eight BMW M4 DTMs taking part in today’s race at the Red Bull Ring, host of the second round of the 2016 Deutsche Tourenwagen Master season, will take on additional weight after the calculations of the performance weights after this afternoon’s qualifying session.

BMW had the best ideal lap of the three manufacturers, with a register of 1:22.465 belonging to Team RBM’s Tom Blomqvist, with both Audi and Mercedes setting best ideal laps with a difference over 0.2% of the Bavarian squad’s time.

As a result, the BMW M4 DTMs will take on five kg, resulting on a new base weight of 1,117.5kg, whilst both the Audi RS 5 DTMs and the Mercedes AMG C63 DTMs will lose five kg, with a base weight of 1,115kg for both of them.

Race 1 is scheduled for 17:45 CEST.
