Audi and BMW put on weight for Race 2

The BMW M4 DTMs and the Audi RS 5 DTMs will take on additional weight for today’s Race 2 at the Red Bull Ring, host of the second round of the 2016 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season, as per the calculations of the performance weights after the qualifying session.

BMW Motorsport Team Schnitzer driver António Félix Da Costa had the best ideal lap of the entire field, with a best time of 1:22.567. Poleman Jamie Green had also the best ideal register for Audi Sport, with a best lap of 1:22.574.

Robert Wickens scored the best ideal lap for Mercedes AMG, with an ideal time of 1:22.951.

With BMW Motorsport having the fastest ideal time, Audi sport being under 0.1% slower, but with Mercedes AMG well over the 0.2% mark, the M4 DTMs and the RS 5 DTMs will take on five kilos each, resulting in new base weights of 1,122.5 and 1,120kg each, whilst the C63 DTMs will shed five kg, with a new base weight of 1,110.

Race 2 starts at 15:10 CEST.
