Maximilian Götz penalised for blocking

Mercedes AMG driver Maximilian Götz qualified in 15th position for today’s Race 1 grid at the Lausitzring, which welcomes the third round of the 2016 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season this weekend.

The Team HWA driver will, however, start the race from further behind, after the stewards found him guilty of blocking Audi Sport’s Mike Rockenfeller. Götz has received a five-place grid drop, which will place him on the 20th starting spot.

Audi Sport driver Edoardo Mortara also carries a three-place grid drop from the incident with BMW’s António Félix Da Costa at the Red Bull Ring. The Italian from Team Abt, who had qualified 11th, will now start 14th on the grid.

The stewards also decided no further action would be taken on BMW’s Timo Glock, investigated for allegedly blocking Edoardo Mortara.
