António Félix Da Costa receives grid penalty for Budapest

BMW Motorsport driver António Félix Da Costa has received a five-place grid drop penalty for the next race in Budapest after being issued his third warning of the season during today’s race in Nürburgring.

The Portuguese driver and Mercedes AMG’s Maximilian Götz got into a fight in the early stages of the race where they forced each other off the track on a few occasions. The stewards gave Da Costa a warning on lap 10 for his manoeuvre against Götz.

According to article 18.2 of the Sporting Regulations, a driver receiving three warnings will automatically receive a five-position grid drop penalty for the following race which, in Da Costa’s case, will be Race 1 in Budapest in two weeks’ time.
