Miguel Molina penalised for Da Costa incident

Audi Sport Team Abt driver Miguel Molina has lost his points from today’s race at the Nürburgring after receiving a time penalty for his collision with BMW driver António Félix Da Costa.

On lap 21 of the race Molina was trying to overtake Mercedes AMG’s Maximilian Götz at the inside of Turn 3. Braking towards Turn 4, Molina pushed Da Costa, sending him into a spin.

The stewards found Molina responsible for causing a collision. As the race was finished, instead of a drive-through penalty, the Spaniard had 30 seconds added to his total race time. Thus, the Team Abt driver drops to 20th position and out of the points. BMW driver Maxime Martin has been promoted to tenth place, collecting the final point.

On a separate note, Mercedes’ Maximilian Götz had five seconds added to his total race time for cutting the chicane at Turn 9.
