Jamie Green leads an all-Audi top eight in second practice in Budapest
Audi Sport’s Jamie Green was the fastest driver in the second free practice session at the Hungaroring, with the cars from Ingolstadt occupying the top eight positions.
The session started after a five-minute delay due to repair work on the circuit barriers due to an accident in another category.
The Briton set a best time of 1:35.586, almost a second faster than the track record set by Marco Wittmann two years ago. Edoardo Mortara was second fastest, 0.099 seconds behind Green, with the two title contenders from Audi topping the session.
Audi’s dominance continued with Adrien Tambay in third, followed by Nico Müller. Mattias Ekström led during the initial stages but ended up fifth at the end, followed by Mike Rockenfeller, Timo Scheider and Miguel Molina, with the Spaniard 0.517 seconds off the pace.
Gary Paffett was the best-of-the-rest in ninth position for Mercedes AMG, 0.559 seconds behind his countryman Green. Marco Wittmann was the top driver for BMW Motorsport in tenth place, 0.675 seconds off the pace.
Team HWA drivers Daniel Juncadella and Robert Wickens followed, with the Canadian having been in the top five during most of the session, although finishing in 12th place 0.764 seconds behind Jamie Green.
