Tin Sritrai given 30-second penalty for clash with Kantadhee Kusiri

Team Thailand’s Tin Sritrai was punished by the stewards for contact with Race 1 winner Kantadhee Kusiri in Race 2 at Sepang, dropping him to fifth position overall and elevating Kusiri to second place in the championship standings.

The two Thai drivers were battling over second position during the opening laps of the race, first making contact at the end of lap three, before Kusiri made a move down the inside of Sritrai at the hairpin one lap later, but Sritrai turned in on him, launching the Engster driver off the circuit and into the pits for repairs.

Kusiri rejoined two laps down to finish in ninth and last, while Sritrai crossed the line less than a second behind race winner Diego Moran, but was relegated to fifth after copping a 30-second penalty from the race officials.

The two R Engineering Hondas of Lai Wee Sing and Adbul Kaathir therefore completed the podium, with Jasper Thong in the Phoenix Asia-run Audi RS 3 finishing just off the podium in fourth position.
