Team Rosberg to appeal Jamie Green’s exclusion

Audi Sport Team Rosberg has informed the DMSB (German ASN) of their intention to appeal Jamie Green’s exclusion from Saturday’s race at the Hungaroring.

The appeal has to be formally submitted in writing to the DMSB by the evening Wednesday 21st of June. The appeal will then be heard by an appeal court, which could take a few weeks.

The results of the race remain provisional with Green excluded fron seventh place, so the following classified drivers move up one place, with Audi’s Nico Müller taking now tenth position and the final point. Should the appeal be successful, the race results will be amended again.

The front splitter of the cars is a standard part, common to all three manufacturers which cannot be modified without a unanimous agreement.

This splitter is made of seven different parts, which are free standing from each other. A DMSB official explained to TouringCarTimes that, at the beginning of the season, teams had asked whether the different parts could be joined together with a plastic filler, which would result in an aerodynamic gain.

After several discussions among all parts concerned, a decision was made against the procedure because of the costs involved, which was communicated in writing to all teams. At the Hungaroring, Jamie Green’s Audi RS 5 DTM presented the said plastic filler on one side of the splitter, resulting in the protest by Mercedes.

It has been noted that joining the splitter parts through a tape hasn’t been forbidden, and is a solution presented by the rest of the teams.
