Kantadhee Kusiri takes pole position at Bangsaen

Engstler Motorsport’s Kantadhee Kusiri has claimed his third pole from four races in the 2017 TCR Asia Series at the Bangsaen street race in Thailand.

The Thai driver was over seven-tenths of a second faster in his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR than rival Tin Sritrai, driving for Team Thailand in a Honda Civic Type-R TCR.

The gaps then increased significantly, with third-placed Shaun Thong 2.3 seconds back in his Phoenix Asia-run Audi RS 3 LMS at the 3.7km circuit.

Championship leader Lai Wee Sing was fourth-quickest in his R Engineering Honda, with Ecuadorian Diego Moran fifth in the second of Engstler’s Volkswagen Golfs.

Kittipol Pramoj Na Ayudhya was sixth in the Singha Motorsport Team Thailand SEAT León DSG, followed by Alex Liu in the Elegant Racing SEAT León TCR, with Jasper Thong’s Audi and Nattanid Leewattanavaragul’s RML Racing SEAT completing the top ten.

The first race of the weekend is scheduled for Saturday at 13:30 ICT (7:30 CET).
