Gary Paffett excluded from qualifying at Zandvoort

Mercedes AMG driver Gary Paffett has been excluded from today’s qualifying results at Zandvoort because of a technical infringement.

The stewards found that the British driver, who had qualified in eighth place for today’s grid, had used a tyre that wasn’t from his initial allocation. Paffett was consequently excluded and will have to start the race from the back of the grid.

In a separate investigation in respect of Audi’s Nico Müller having allegedly blocked BMW’s Marco Wittmann, the stewards ruled that no action should be taken.

There’s no decision as yet on any penalty for either Edoardo Mortara or Timo Glock.
