Huang Chu Han wins TCR China endurance race in Shanghai

Huang Chu Han recovered from eighth on the grid to win the one-hour endurance race of TCR China. The NewFaster Audi driver took the lead away from team-mate Andy Yan and despite Volkswagen drivers Alex Hui and Ma Qing Hua’s efforts to take the lead in the latter stages of the race, the Chinese driver held on to the lead. Sunny Wong and Alex Fung completed the podium in another Teamwork Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR.

Andy Yan took the lead at the start and it looked like his place was secure, but Huang managed to recover through the middle of the pack. A series of fast laps allowed the Chinese driver to get past his team-mate on lap seven to never look back. Yan slipped down the order to retire with three laps to go, the Hong Kong driver classified tenth.

After the pit stops the Hui-Ma Volkswagen appeared to be a serious threat to Huang’s lead, but they couldn’t catch the leader quickly enough to try an overtake. Wong-Fung finished third ahead of Wang Hao and Lin Li Feng in the NewFaster Volkswagen, ahead of stable-mates He Xiao Le and Lu Chuan.

Qi Pei Wen and Zhou Hao Wen crossed the line in sixth in their SEAT, ahead of the Audi RS 3 LMS driven by Deng Bao Wei and Li Lin and their stable-mates Bai Ya Xin and Cai Hong Yu. Hu Hao was classified ninth in his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR despite retiring with three laps to go, as was Andy Yan in 10th.
