Frank Stippler takes pole position for the TT Cup ‘Race of Legends’
Frank Stippler scored pole position for the TT Cup ‘Race of Legends’ that Audi Sport has organised this weekend to bid farewell to the single-make competition.
Stippler set a best lap of 1:51.019, followed by 1991 DTM champion Frank Biela. Nine times Le Mans 24 Hours winner Tom Kristensen was third, followed by Filipe Alburquerque.
GT legend Stephan Ortelli was fifth, followed by Marco Werner, Rahel Frey and Rinaldo Cappello. Lucas Lühr was eighth fastest, with Formula E champion Lucas Di Grassi completing the top ten.
The session, held in twilight conditions as the sun was setting over Hockenheim, was trouble-free, though almost all drivers received warnings or had laps deleted for exceeding the track limits.
The race is scheduled for tomorrow at 12:45 CET.
