Josh Price completes 2018 BTCC line-up with BMR return

Ahead of the season launch at Donington Park, Team BMR has completed the 2018 BTCC grid after confirming that it has re-signed Josh Price for a second year.

Price made an unexpected debut with the Subaru team last season having originally planned to compete in the Renault Clio Cup UK, with the youngster taking a best finish of ninth in his Levorg GT and finishing third in the Jack Sears Trophy standings.

The teenager had been widely expected to pursue a TCR programme this year having spent recent months testing in a Honda Civic, which included an outing on track at TCR UK’s recent test at Silverstone – although an engine issue prevented him from posting a time.

Having then had chance to get back behind the wheel of the Levorg however, Price has now been confirmed as part of BMR’s trimmed down three-car BTCC line-up alongside defending champion Ash Sutton and Jason Plato.

Price will run under the Autoglym Academy Racing banner, with BMR having confirmed last week that Adrian Flux would remain onboard as title sponsors of the sister cars.

“It’s great to be back in the BTCC with Team BMR and Autoglym,” Price said. “After a test at Snetterton a couple of weeks back we came away with a clear vision that this was the right path to go down for 2018. There is definitely unfinished business for me in the Championship, so we’ve got a lot to prove this season.”

Team boss Warren Scott was pleased to retain Price for another season and said he was eager to see the youngster build on the knowledge gained last season.

“We are thrilled to have Josh in the team for another season in the Subaru Levorg,” he said. “2017 was a big learning curve for him with it being his maiden season in which he made impressive progress. We are really looking forward to watching him battle for the Jack Sears Trophy title once again this year and can’t wait to get started. Josh and his family are great to be around and it’s a pleasure to have them onboard.”
