Gary Paffett fastest on the second test day at Hockenheim

Mercedes AMG’s Gary Paffett was again fastest in the afternoon test sessionat Hockenheim , ending the day as the quickest driver in the second day of the official pre-season test.

Paffett completed 99 laps in the afternoon session with a best time of 1:32.942, beating Joel Eriksson by just 0.008 seconds. Fellow BMW drivers Timo Glock and Philipp Eng followed, with the Austrian three-tenths off the pace.

2017 champion René Rast was able to put in some mileage after the morning’s problems, completing 69 laps to finish fifth fastest for Audi.

Mercedes’ Daniel Juncadella an Edoardo Mortara followed, performing race simulations in the afternoon session and with the Italian the busiest man on track with 104 laps completed.

Audi drivers Robin Frijns and Loïc Duval completed the classification.

Testing continues tomorrow at 9:00 CET, with Robin Frijns, Mike Rockenfeller and Nico Müller behind the wheel for Audi. Bruno Spengler, Augusto Farfus and Marco Wittmann will be on duty for BMW, with Pascal Wehrlein, Lucas Auer and Daniel Juncadella driving for Mercedes.
