Chris Vietoris named as the reserve and test driver for Mercedes AMG

Mercedes AMG have added former DTM driver Chris Vietoris as their test and reserve driver in the series, with the German attending all ten events in the calendar.

“After a year’s absence, I’m obviously delighted to be back in motorsport, and as a member of the Mercedes family,” said Vietoris.

The 28-year-old competed for Mercedes AMG in the DTM for six seasons, from 2011 to 2016, scoring three pole positions and achieving nine podium finishes. Vietoris also secured a victory in the series at Oschersleben in 2014.

“We’ve known Christian for a very long time. He’s a very fast racing driver and a terrific team player,” said Mercedes-AMG boss in the DTM Ulrich Fritz. “He knows the team and the way we do things and has several years of DTM experience. It’s exactly these qualities you want in a reserve driver, who needs to be ready to jump into the car at short notice and perform well.”
