Antti Buri handed 30-second penalty and loses race one points

LMS Racing’s Antti Buri has been handed a 30-second time penalty following the opening race of the TCR Germany season at Oschersleben, dropping the Finn out of the points.

Buri had been running strongly in the top four but ran onto the wet grass exiting turn seven and collected Dominik Fugel’s Honda Civic TCR at the chicane as he rejoined the circuit.

Fugel’s car suffered extensive front-end damage which put the German out the race and brought the safety car out.

Another safety car intervention – one of three in the race – in the closing laps closed the field up with the top ten cars separated by just under six seconds.

This, plus his 30-second punishment, meant that former UK Formula Ford champion Buri dropped from fourth to 22nd overall.
