Diego Moran beats Luca Engstler to victory in final Buriram race

Diego Moran won the final TCR Asia race of the weekend at Buriram in Thailand, beating Team Engstler team-mate Luca Engstler in a close finish.

Moran started ninth on the grid with Engstler right behind him in tenth and the Ecuadorian driver quickly made his way up through the field while Engstler struggled to keep up in the first part of the race.

When both drivers had made their way into the top two, Engstler started to close in on Moran and put hard pressure on him at the very end of the race.

The two were nose-to-tail crossing the finishing line, with Moran claiming victory by a mere three tenths of a second.

The third Team Engstler driver Mitchell Cheah, who won the first race, also made his way up through the field but had to pit for a tyre change and dropped to finish eleventh.

Chariya Nuya of Billionaire Boy Racing started fifth and fought his way to finish third, also winning the amateur class in his Honda Civic TCR.

Pattarapol Vongprai made it two Hondas in the top five with fourth position, just under two seconds behind manufacturer colleague Nuya.

Four SEATs occupied positions five to eight with Jakraphan Davee in fifth position for Alphafactory Racingteam and Nattanid Leewattanavaragul in sixth for Morin Racing Team By Sunoco. Wong Kiang Kuan was seventh for Elegant Racing Team while Douglas Khoo rounded off the top eight for Viper Niza Racing.
