Augusto Farfus wants to keep momentum after best result of the year at Zandvoort

BMW Motorsport driver Augusto Farfus was upbeat after driving a strong race on Sunday to finish in fifth position, his best result so far this season.

The Brazilian qualified in eighth place on the grid. “We made a mistake in qualifying, as I think we had the pace to be alongside Philipp (Eng, second on the grid),” Farfus told TouringCarTimes. “But, if you look at the lap times, at this track everybody’s fastest lap was the first one, then, for some reason, the track was slower for everybody.”

The situation improved for the Team RMG driver in the race, able to recover positions despite the difficulties in overtaking: “I had a good car for the race and I had more pace than Philipp and than other cars ahead of me, but I’m happy as we have found a good feeling with the cars and there are many races ahead of us.”

Looking ahead at the next round of the season at Brands Hatch, Farfus said: “I think Zandvoort’s car setup will be useful for Brands, the concept will adjust well to the characteristics of the track. I think Brands will be a good race for us, as I have a good past there.”

Overall, the Brazilian feels both him and the team have improved this year and is looking forward to the rest of the season. “I feel very positive for the rest of the season and I hope to be able to be back on top soon,” concluded Farfus.
