Pascal Wehrlein tops the final practice at Zandvoort

Mercedes AMG continues to control the fifth DTM round of the season at Zandvoort with Pascal Wehrlein setting the fastest lap time in this morning’s third and final practice session, ahead of a competitive Audi squad.

Wehrlein set a fastest lap time of 1:30.960, 0.079 seconds ahead of Jamie Green, with fellow Audi drivers René Rast, who was at the top spot for over half of the session, Nico Müller and Loïc Duval.

Championship leaders Paul di Resta and Gary Paffett came next for Mercedes, with the Briton 0.462 seconds behind his team-mate.

Augusto Farfus was the fastest BMW driver and the only one to finish in the top ten, in eighth place, followed by Mercedes AMG’s Daniel Juncadella and Edoardo Mortara, 0.614 seconds off the pace.

Local hero Robin Frijns was unable to complete any laps in the session due to an electrical fault in his Audi RS 5 DTM.

The qualifying session for Race 2 is scheduled for 11:20 CEST.
