Kantadhee Kusiri takes easy pole at wet Yeongam circuit on his return

Reigning champion Kantadhee Kusiri has romped to pole position on his TCR Asia Series return, driving a Viper Niza Racing Cupra TCR.

Kusiri easily booked himself a spot in Q2 with a time 2.9 seconds clear of Engstler Motorsport’s Luca Engster in the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR with a time of 2:42.125 around the 5.6km circuit.

Kusiri replicated that time despite the ticky conditions in Q2, 1.5 seconds clear of Engstler, who was again his closest rival.

Diego Moran was third fastest in his Engstler Volkswagen, 2.6 seconds off the pace, with championship leader Mitchell Cheah ensuring the German team occupied spots three to four for tomorrow’s Race 1 grid.

Chariya Nuya was the best-placed Honda driver in his BBR Honda Civic Type R FK2 TCR,a whole 6.3 seconds down.

Kang Byung Hui was sixth fastest and the best placed of the TCR Korea series runners in his Indigo Racing Hyundai i30 N TCR, leading Wong KIang Kuan’s Elegant Racing Cupra TCR.

Andrew Kim was eighth in the BrandNew Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR, with Alex Liu’s Elegant Cupra and Lo Sze Ho’s Maximum Racing Honda Civic Type R FK2 TCR completing the top ten, with Lo securing pole position for Race 2.

Race 1 is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:45am local time (03:45 CEST).
