Mercedes-AMG penalised for exceeding engine allocation
Mercedes-AMG has been given a penalty ahead of Saturday’s race as the German manufacturer has exceeded their engine allocation for the 2018 season after changing engine in Pascal Wehrlein’s C63 DTM.
Each manufacturer has an allocation of eight engines for the whole season, an increase of one compared to 2017 to allow for the extra mileage because of the additional tenth event in this year’s calendar.
Mercedes-AMG has already used their allocated units and the penalty according to article 28.5 of the sporting regulations means that the highest classified Mercedes-AMG in Saturday’s race will not score points for the manufacturers’ championship.
