Henry Ho and Mitchell Cheah split pole positions at Shanghai

TCR China points leader Henry Ho and TCR Asia championship front-runner Mitchell Cheah have taken pole position for of today’s two sprint races at the Shanghai International Circuit in the combined race meeting.

Ho was fastest of all in Qualifying 1 in his MacPro Racing Honda Civic Type R FK8 TCR, setting a time of 2:17.250, two-tenths of a second faster than Sunny Wong in his Teamwork Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR.

Luca Engstler was the fastest of the TCR Asia drivers, third overall, a further three-tenths behind in his Engstler Motorsport Volkwagen, with Kelvin Wong fifth in his Elegant Racing Cupra TCR, with Filipe de Souza sixth in the TA Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS.

In Q2, Cheah was fastest in his Volkswagen with a time of 2:17.117, just ahead of team-mate and championship rival Luca Engstler, half a second clear of team-mate and title rival Luca Engstler, with Diego Moran completing an all Engstler top three.

Alex Hui was the TCR China pole-sitter, fourth overall, with a time of 2:17.932 as he took over the #11 Volkswagen Golf from Sunny Wong, with championship leader Eurico de Jesus taking over from Henry Ho in the #88 Honda and setting the sixth-best time overall.

Race 1 is scheduled for 11:50 CST (05:50 CEST).
