DTM test and race as prize for Formula European Masters drivers

The top three drivers of the 2019 Formula European Masters series season will get a prize in the form of a DTM test and furthermore, the champion will get to take part in a race of the 2020 DTM season.

The single-seater series will run its maiden season as a DTM support championship, following in the steps of the now defunct Formula 3 Euro Series.

“DTM and Super Formula are both proven means to graduate to Formula 1,” said Walter Mertes, CEO of ‘Formel 3 Vermarktungs GmbH’, the umbrella organisation of Formula European Masters.

“The Formula European Masters opens the doors to both series. That’s really great for our young drivers. With good performances in the end-of-season tests, they can attract the attention of DTM manufacturers and teams for the following season. And the one who proves to be the best overall will be rewarded with a DTM guest appearance.”

2014 and 2016 champion Marco Wittmann, 2015 champion Pascal Wehrlein, as well as Edoardo Mortara, Joel Eriksson and Lucas Auer were drivers who graduated to DTM straight after winning in Formula 3.
