Two joint DTM and Super GT races confirmed for 2019

The DTM and Super GT organisation has confirmed two races for 2019 where cars from the two championships will compete together.

The first one will be the DTM season finale at Hockenheim where one car from Honda, Lexus and Nissan will take part in the races.

“This means that we provide our European fans with a huge additional highlight,” said Achim Kostron, the managing director of ITR, the promoters of DTM.

“Six brands on the grid of a DTM race – that’s impressive. This demonstrates the huge potential of the cooperation of SUPER GT and DTM.”

The second event will be a joint end-of-the-season race weekend on November 23-24th at Fuji in Japan.

“The joint race meeting of DTM and SUPER GT finally can be realised,” said Masaaki Bandoh, head of GTA, the promoters of Super GT.

“I’d love to thank ITR and its Chairman Gerhard Berger for the good collaboration. Furthermore, I thank the Fuji Speedway officials who were actively involved in the realisation of our plan. I’m really delighted that we are going to jointly organise this event.”

There will be 12 cars from each championship racing at Fuji, making for a total of 24 cars. The race format will be two races without driver changes and control tyres will be supplied by Hankook.
