Philipp Eng gets grid penalty for blocking Mike Rockenfeller in qualifying
BMW driver Philipp Eng has been given a three-place grid penalty as the stewards found the Austrian guilty of blocking Audi Sport Team Phoenix’s Mike Rockenfeller during Saturday’s qualifying session.
Eng had qualified in second place and will instead start the race from fifth on the grid, but will keep the two points awarded to the qualifying result.
In a separate decision, both Team Phoenix drivers, Rockenfeller and Loïc Duval, have been excluded from the qualifying results for breaking the parc permé regulations as the team lifted the bonnet of both of their RS 5 DTM race cars.
They will start the race at the back of the grid.
