Six wins from seven for Hyundai’s Luca Engstler at Zhejiang

Luca Engstler has taken his sixth win of the 2019 TCR Asia International Series at the Zhejiang International Circuit, leading from lights-to-flag in his Engstler Hyundai i30 N TCR, while there was a tough battle behind him for second.

Starting from pole position, Engstler led the way ahead of Dan Lloyd’s TCR China class Honda Civic TCR, run by the Dongfeng MacPro Racing Team, with the Solite Indigo Racing Hyundai of Pepe Oriola third, and the NewFaster Audi of Huang Chu Han fourth.

On lap three, Lloyd fell behind the two cars of Oriola and Huang, with Huang then passing Oriola’s car just two laps later.

As the race went on, the pace came back to Oriola’s car, who dived down the inside of Huang’s Audi RS 3 LMS on lap 11, with the Chinese driver having left the door wide open for the Spaniard, with Oriola going on to finish second and Huang third, with Huang winning his first race in TCR China this year.

Lloyd finished fourth ahead of Diego Moran’s Hyundai i30 N TCR, with Adam Khalid’s Team Oettinger Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR sixth.

Daniel Miranda was the best-placed of the Eurasia Motorsport Hyundais in seventh, ahead of Kim Jun Soo’s Hyundai, with Kenneth Look’s Audi and the Hyundai of Gao Hua Yang completing the top ten.

The best-placed of the new MG XPower SAIC MG 6s was that of 2016 CTCC champion Zhang Zhen Dong, in 12th overall, 52 seconds from the leader.

The second race of the weekend takes place at 11:20 CST tomorrow (04:20 CEST).
