Zolder remains on DTM schedule for 2020

The DTM will return to the Circuit Zolder for the 2020 season after an extended agreement was signed between the series and the Belgian circuit.

Zolder returned to the schedule this season for the first time since 2002, with René Rast and Philipp Eng sharing the race wins; the latter securing his maiden victory in the the series in the process.

Following the success of the race weekend, Zolder has now joined the Nürburgring and Assen in signing a contract for 2020, with confirmation of the date to follow when the DTM releases the official calendar.

“This year’s return to Zolder was a complete success for us,” Achim Kostron, Managing Director of series promoter ITR said. “The Circuit Zolder is a special venue for the DTM, a historic and unforgiving racetrack that perfectly reflects our racing DNA.

“We saw that in May, when we returned for two fantastic, exciting races. And the Zolder promoters have been fantastic – they’ve done everything right. We’re pleased and excited to be continuing our excellent co-operation on that basis.”

Sven Pribylla, General Manager of Circuit Zolder, was also delighted to confirm that the DTM would return again next season.

“It’s an honour to extend our fantastic collaboration with one of the world’s best motorsport series,” he said. “We’ve reached this agreement through excellent teamwork: we have total faith in the goals and aspirations of the DTM, whose ambitions perfectly match our own. The beginning of our partnership earlier this year was an important first step in returning Circuit Zolder to international level.”
