Tadasuke Makino tops joint Super GT/DTM test at Fuji

Tadasuke Makino of Honda team Modulo Nakajima Racing topped the first day of testing for the joint Super GT and DTM race weekend at Fuji, as Audi driver Loïc Duval was fastest of the DTM drivers in third position.

Duval was just below three tenths of a second from Makino, with Lexus driver Kenta Yamashita second fastest, just 0.047 seconds ahead of the Audi driver.

Hideki Mutoh and Koudai Tsukakoshi made it three Honda NX-GTs in the top five, four and five tenths of a second behind respectively.

The second best DTM driver was Rene Rast in eleventh position, 0.718 seconds from the top time. Fastest of the BMW drivers was Marco Wittmann down in 17th position, just over one second from Makino.

BMW newcomers Kamui Kobayashi and Alex Zanardi only managed 19th and 22nd position respectively.

There was one red flag during the session, caused by WRT Audi driver Benoit Treluyer, spinning in the Coca Cola corner.

Next up is the first free practice session, starting at 10:05 local time / 02:05 CET tomorrow.
