DTM move pre-season test over coronavirus concerns

ITR, the organiser of the DTM, has confirmed that the planned pre-season test that was due to take place at Monza next month has been moved due to concerns about the ongoing spread of the coronavirus in Northern Italy.

The three-day test was scheduled to take place from 16-18 March, but has now been moved back to German soil and will instead be run at Hockenheim – with the test scheduled to now run from 16-19 March.

Monza is still scheduled to host a round of the series this season on 26-28 June.

“It’s become increasingly apparent that the spread and containment of the coronavirus is sadly affecting society in many different and deepening ways,” ITR Managing Director Marcel Mohaupt said. “With the safety and well-being of everyone at the forefront of our thinking, we took the decision to relocate our pre-season test to a different venue.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone at Monza and Hockenheim for their co-operation in this matter, and we look forward to visiting Italy in the summer for DTM’s first-ever event at this legendary circuit.”
