Mike Rockenfeller fastest in afternoon session at the Nürburgring

Audi Sport Team Phoenix driver Mike Rockenfeller set the fastest time in the afternoon session at the Nürburgring during the opening day of the official DTM preseason tests.

The afternoon run was slightly slower than the morning, with Rockenfeller setting a best lap time of 1:19.836, 61-thousandths ahead of the morning pacesetter – BMW Motorsport driver Philipp Eng. WRT’s Ferdinand Habsburg was third, one-tenth off the pace.

South African Sheldon van der Linde was fourth, three-tenths behind Rockenfeller, with series newcomer Fabio Scherer next, seven-tenths off the pace.

Marco Wittmann finished in sixth position with his BMW M4 DTM, followed by ART Grand Prix’s Robert Kubica, albeit a second off the pace.

Audi Sport drivers René Rast and Robin Frijns completed the classification.

Testing resumes on Tuesday at 8:30 CEST, with Nico Müller, Loïc Duval and Jamie Green on driving duties for Audi.
