Team Engstler to use Honda in German programme

Team Engstler will also switch to the Honda Civic Type R for its programme in TCR Germany in 2021.

The team was named last week as one of the two Honda entrants in the World Touring Car Cup, taking on the cars of Tiago Monteiro and Attila Tassi that were previously run by Münnich Motorsport.

Confirmation has now followed that the Honda will also be used in TCR Germany, where the team secured the title last year with Hyundai thanks to Luca Engstler.

Backing will once again come from lubricant specialists Liqui Moly.

“We are very excited to be part of the global Honda motorsports programme starting next season,” Liqui Moly marketing director Peter Baumann said, “and we are confident that we can live our corporate values very well with Honda.

“The motorsport expertise of the team led by Franz Engstler, our passion and the joy of working together will harmonise very well and lead to the desired success in sport as well as for the Honda and Liqui Moly brands.”

Drivers for the TCR Germany programme have yet to be confirmed.
