Laser Tools teams with MB Motorsport for 2023
The Laser Tools Racing name will remain on the BTCC grid for the 2023 season after a new title partnership agreement was announced with Mark Blundell’s MB Motorsport outfit.
The deal will see Jake Hill’s West Surrey Racing-run BMW compete under the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport banner, with the decision coming two months after it appeared the automotive tools specialist was to bow out of the series after ending its agreement with Aiden Moffat.
“We have been very impressed with the team at MB Motorsport and we feel that Jake Hill is a future BTCC champion,” Martin Smith, Chairman of Laser Tools, said. “Mark Blundell has demonstrated that the synergy between Laser Tools Racing and MB Motorsport is already obvious.
“We are proud to be still competing in the BTCC and very much looking forward to what is sure to be a very exciting year for us.”
Hill – who is expected to be a contender for top honour during the year ahead – admitted he was surprised to discover news of the deal, which sees Laser Tools replace ROKiT as title sponsor of his programme.
“When I was told this news, I was massively surprised but completely thrilled too,” he said. “Laser Tools Racing has a proud history in the BTCC and I cannot wait to fly the flag for them in the series this year.
“They’re a brand completely synonymous with everything that is so good about the championship and I know that the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport combination will prove to be a really strong one this year.”
