Alex Jones to make TCR UK debut at Silverstone

Alex Jones will make a belated debut in TCR UK when he joins the grid for the third round of the season at Silverstone next month.

Jones had been scheduled to appear in the second half of the 2024 campaign at the wheel of a Honda Civic Type R, but will instead make his debut in the same Gen 1 Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR that George Jaxon used in the season opener at Donington Park.

The move into TCR this season is part of longer-term plans to contest a full season in 2026, with Jones looking forward to joining the grid in the DW Racing-run car.

“I’m excited to be going racing again after some time away,” he said. “Seeing how well TCR UK has progressed in recent years, I want to be on the grid and be a part of the championship.

“Competing in the Gen 1 Cup gives me a chance to go racing again. This year is about getting back behind the wheel and getting myself up to speed. However, I’m not there to make up the numbers.

“I plan to be race fit to enter the 2026 season full-time, so every race I compete in this year will help me improve further. I love motorsport and I can’t wait to get back on track again.”
