Rod McGovern returns in ex-Carl Boardley Cupra
Rod McGovern has confirmed he will return to the TCR UK grid at Silverstone ahead of ‘several further’ outings in the series over the remainder of the season.
McGovern took part in the Donington Park season opener at the wheel of a JH Racing-run Hyundai i30 N but will switch to Power Maxed Racing when he rejoins the grid later this month.
Whilst PMR has been running two Hyundais this season for Finn Leslie and Harry Bloor, McGovern will be at the wheel of a Cupra Leon Competicion having acquired the car that carried Carl Boardley to the title for the last two seasons.
“I’m pleased to announce that I’ll return to TCR UK for the Silverstone weekend in May and beyond,” he said. “My experience of the championship when I arrived at Donington Park in March was amazing and I’m very happy to be back in such a friendly and exciting paddock for more in 2025.
“I plan to be full-time next season, so 2025 is a learning year. I couldn’t turn down the chance to purchase the title-winning car from the last two seasons to go racing in. The Cupra provides me with a good platform to learn and adapt to TCR racing and get more experience under my belt before 2026.”
