Norbert Michelisz heads a Hyundai 1-2 in final Misano practice

Norbert Michelisz headed a BRC Hyundai 1-2 with team-mate Mikel Azcona in the second and final FIA TCR World Tour practice session of the Misano season opener in Italy.

The Hungarian driver lapped the circuit in 1:40.421, beating team-mate Azcona by just 0.096 seconds.

Honda driver Ruben Volt was once again close to the top with third place, one tenth from the top time for ALM Motorsport.

Esteban Guerrieri took his GOAT Racing-prepared Honda Civic Type R FL5 TCR to fourth place, just under four tenths of a second behind Michelisz.

Aurélien Comte was once again fastest of the Cupra drivers in fifth place ahead of local hero Gabriele Covini who claimed sixth for BRC Hyundai.

Santiago Urrutia was just as in the first practice session fastest of the Geely Cyan Racing drivers, setting the seventh fastest time, 0.467 seconds from the top.

Four French drivers claimed positions eight to eleven with Teddy Clairet (Honda) in eighth, Julien Briché (Hyundai) in ninth, Yann Ehrlacher (Geely) in tenth and world touring car returnee Jean-Karl Vernay (Cupra) in eleventh.

The top ten cars were covered within just over nine tenths of a second at the 4226 meter Misano circuit.

The Audi entry of Vannin Motorsport has been withdrawn from the weekend, meaning a total of 18 cars at Misano.

Next up is qualifying, starting at 08:30 CEST on Saturday.
