Bamboo Engineering to compete in both WTCC & BTCC

Bamboo Engineering will compete in their second full WTCC season alongside a BTCC campaign in 2011, as well as a possible venture in GT1, all with Chevrolet cars.

It was revealed yesterday that the team will compete in the WTCC again with Hong Kong driver Darryl O’Young and Japanese racer Yuke Taniguchi, their final 2010 driver line-up.

The team will start the year with the Chevrolet Lacettis which they used last season, but are understood to have two 2011 1.6 Cruzes for Zolder, the second round of the championship.

Bamboo’s Lacettis will then run in the British Touring Car Championship, with Harry Vaulkhard likely to be driving one of the cars.

This will leave the third Proteam BMW of Fabio Fabiani and the Volvo of Robert Dahlgren as the only non turbo-charged cars competing in the championship, with the SEATs set to switch from turbo-diesel to turbo-charged petrol engines later in the season.

Bamboo are expanding their operations this year, as they are also understood to be taking over the second Chevrolet Corvette team in the FIA GT1 World Championship, vacated by the Phoenix / Carsport team.
